Our learning and development group have collated the resources below about autism.
NHS Education Scotland’s (NES) education framework for autism Optimising Outcomes recommends that education covers 3 broad topics:
- Identification, Screening, Assessment and Diagnosis
- Management, Support and Intervention
- Transitions and Change
NES also defines levels of training as:
- Informed: an awareness level for all staff working in health and social care
- Skilled: a level of knowledge and skills for health and social care staff who have direct or frequent contact with autistic people and/or whose role has a significant impact on their lives.
- Enhanced: learning resources for health and social care staff whose role focuses specifically on autism
- Expertise: learning resources for health and social care staff who have a specialist role in services for autistic people and their carers.
We have collated some e-learning modules which take around 45min-1hour to complete.
If you are short of time, or are looking for a specific topic, there are links to videos and webpages on each topic.
